Nothing within that thread about ×86/×64 TOS makes any inferences to that effect about this ARM series.

Only the 220 & 420 series devices have officially been retired recently @ viewtopic.php?t=6910

There is "officially retired" an then there is abandoned by future development. TOS 6.x doesn't run on F4-210 per that article.

Been abandoned since TOS 5.x.

Pretty much time to set up a Mint or Rocky Linux server using an old machine.

That's not the fault of TerraMaster; the blame should solely be faulted on Realtek.

The SoC in the 210 series devices lacks newer Linux kernel support due to RealTek choosing not to develop it further; every manufacturer that uses/used the Realtek RTD1296b SoC is in the same situation of being stuck on a previous version of their respective NAS OS.

TOS builds follow Linux LTS kernels, so unless RealTek has a change of heart with/for this SoC, the 210 series devices could only continue to receive TOS 4.2.× builds with internally developed workarounds to implement any possible patches; the latest LTS 4.× kernel TerraMaster could possibly use is 4.19.× which has just lost support since the end of last year (December 2024).

This "abandonment" is from Realtek.
