I am trying to setup 2 Reolink cameras on my F4 423 I have upgraded to TOS 6 just to get the hyper cach to work. Now I find out here that Surveillance Manager app is mostly none functioning. I really wish this would be clear when one is looking at the TerraMaster info before one makes a purchase. I had both these cameras working fine on Synology. I decided I would upgrade to a 4 bay and now find out what a mistake that was as so many of the apps are none functioning if you are not a computer programer.
I apologize for the poor user experience caused to you, and we will try our best to help solve your problem. As you mentioned "unable to use normally", could you please provide a detailed description of the specific issue? This will help us address your problem more accurately.

I was able to connect all four of my cameras, but only via RTSP, no matter how I tried to connect via ONVIF, it did not work, on Synology everything was simply added by camera model or universally. I enabled ONVIF in the camera settings, but Terramaster simply writes an error when trying to connect. With RTSP, you need to specify the correct stream, like stream101/channel=101, it is done rather complicatedly.
Hikvision DS-2CD2523G0-IWS
Hikvision DS-2CV2Q21FD-IW
Hikvision DS-2CD2443G0-IW
HiWatch DS-I202 D
I could not set up motion detection.
Either motion detection is related to ONVIF, or is performed by the camera, or I did not understand anything, or it has not been implemented.
TOS 6.0.535
Surveillance 1.0.054
As you mentioned, connecting using RTSP can indeed be complicated. We have verified that Hikvision DS cameras are generally capable of connecting through ONVIF, but the issue you're experiencing is unusual. To help pinpoint the problem, you can export the debug logs from the Logs - System Logs - Advanced section and send them to our technical support email. Thank you for your cooperation.

In the end, it connected with the user 2test, perhaps the user name cannot be ONVIF or consist of capital letters. But it seems that in the end the problem was in the password being too long!

Are there any updates regarding the motion detection function?
Currently on my f4-424 I have Tos6.
Thanks

As of August 17, 2025, I attempted to install two Reolink RCL-810A cameras with ONVIF, but the second one refused to connect, so I had to rely on RTSP despite all my efforts. The Terra Master website provides instructions for setting up activity-triggered recording, but these instructions are completely inaccurate and misleading regarding the capabilities of Surveillance Manager. Ultimately, I installed both cameras via RTSP. When I reached out to support about the issue, they stopped responding altogether. The website falsely claims there is an option for activity-triggered recording in Surveillance Manager, which is simply not true. Previously, I had both cameras installed and functioning perfectly with ONVIF on an old Synology DS220J, but I decided to consolidate to one NAS that I believed could handle my needs, only to discover I had been misled.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I'm the product manager in charge of the Surveillance Manager. If you have any issues with this app in the future, feel free to reach out to me directly. I’d be happy to assist—it’s part of our TM team’s service commitment. Now, let me address your questions:
1. The second device refusing to connect may be due to a time mismatch between the camera and the NAS. A new version will be released today to resolve this issue.
2. Event-triggered recording depends on the camera’s event support. We only retrieve events from the camera, and this feature is only available for cameras added via the ONVIF protocol. Cameras added via RTSP do not support event-triggered recording. (Additionally, we’ve added motion detection functionality to our roadmap, so in the future, it won’t rely solely on camera motion events.)
Currently, the product does have some shortcomings, but we’re continuously working on improvements. We welcome your suggestions to help refine the product. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Just to add to this thread, I was able to successfully add a TAPO C120 camera via ONVIF. The camera does support ONVIF events and I have configured the Surveillance Manager to accept events from the "Camera" vs "Disabled" on the "Events" tab. From the UI, it isn't clear how to operate in "event" only vs continuous recording. Perhaps through the "Plan" tab where you could switch between "Event" and "Continuous". However, there is no "Event" option. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hello, in the "Events" tab, you need to select the camera as the "Motion Detection Source" and not disable it. This is necessary to capture motion events from the camera. No additional steps are required, but it is important that you are recording during the time motion is detected. Therefore, we recommend selecting "Continuous" in the "Schedule" tab and checking all options. Currently, it is not possible for the camera to perform motion detection without recording, so you must enable recording for motion detection to work. We acknowledge that this logic is not ideal, and we will need some time to optimize it.

Hi. I do have motion detection source set to Camera. It continues to record continuously. If the application records continuously, what effect does motion detection have - I continue to see the same recordings as when the source is disabled.
Like other applications, isn’t the whole point of motion event based recording to only record when there is a motion event?
