F2-210 2 New Ironwolf drives.

Post by hamgammon »

Got 2 new Ironwolf drives (2tb) to upgrade my F2-210. Previoustly has 2 1tb laptop drives in it. I plugged them in and think it just worked as I had an exterrnal usb drive plugged in at the time and it was like it picked up the OS/config. I unplugged the external to go though the reset procdure again and this happens

My issue is I cannot get past this screen -

and if I click next -

I format the drives in a PC and its like they recover the file systems when I check them in the PC again, but wont get past the setup screen after putting in an admin password. I plug the drives in one at a time but they beep like there is a missing drive?! I am at a loss as how I am supposed to use these drives in this NAS unit. They are completely fine when used in a PC.

EDIT: These drives were formatted blank with no paritions and also NTFS. This is what they look like after intalling TOS -

I see this screen after setting a NAS name, password and email. I have tried other browsers all to no avail.

Is the data on your new hard drive unnecessary? If you do not need the data, you need to delete the volumes in all partitions on the hard disk. You should just replace the volume in the hard drive with another format.

Yep, no data needed on the new drives as they are new. I have formatted the drives in Windows twice. Once as no paritions on both and once where both were NTFS. Same issues.

Again installed TOS as usual (detects both drives as good) then it reboots, I set my email and admin password. Then above screens.

Which version of your previous TOS was?
Did you install the system after changing Figure 1 to Figure 2?

To confirm, I have done what you have done in those images.

I have used the lastest TOS that gets downloaded when you dont pick an option and manually downloaded-

TOS_A1.0_Install_ARM4.2_4.2.08_2101111540_2101111540
and the latest.

I can confirm I have SSH access on port 9222 but no idea what the password is.

After detecting the hard disk, there will be a few seconds to choose whether to cancel the automatic system update.
Can you use an original hard drive to reinstall the system and enter the TOS desktop?
If possible, plug in two new hard drives after shutting down, then turn on the device and enter from the TNAS PC.

Thanks for the help by the way!

To confirm you want me to -
1. Put in a new drive in the NAS.
2. Reintall TOS.
3. Make sure I can access TOS Desktop as normal.
4. Shutdown the NAS and add the 2 other drives back in?

Just want to make sure before I do it.
