Raid 5 - Add a Drive Later

Post by StephenM »

Hi.

I'm new to TerraMaster, but not to computing in general.

I have a T4-210 which I got today.
I ordered 4x3TB Seagate IronWolf, however, on initialisation, one is faulty (tested it in another enclosure and my MacBook won't recognise it - The others my MacBook recognises fine)

It's going to take a week or so for a new drive to be send after I Return the faulty one. I've two questions.

1) Can I configure my 3 drives for Raid 5 now and add the replacement drive into the array when it arrives?
2) If the above is possible how do I increase my volume size from 6TB to 9TB once I add the new drive?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello,
1) You can configure 3 drives for Raid 5 at once, and add replacement drives to the array when the array arrives.
2) After inserting the new hard disk, go to the control panel to edit the storage pool and choose to add hard disks to the array. This may take some time. After the addition is successful, edit the volume. If you cannot successfully set up by clicking MAX, please manually enter a number that is a few MB less than the maximum available.
