Hj, new F5-221 owner here, I'm only getting transfer speeds of 40mbps from a powered usb3 drive attached to the unit, is this normal?
It's going to take me weeks to transfer my files, there is nothing else running on the machjne...

Hi,
Thank you for that link, doesn't really provide me with any answers though, so if you could reply to my original question which was....
Are these speeds normal? If not what sort of speed should you get from jsb3 port to internal drive when copying large fikes?
Thank you.

Re: Slow Copy Speeds from USB
i have recently restored data from my USB3 enclosure a number of times
my hard drive on the F2-210 is a Seagate Barraccuda which I now know is not on the recommended list so I am attributing things like this to that reason
some files flew from the USB to hard drive at 80 - 90mb/s others at 45mb/s and others actually dropped to around 15mb/s
so in my experience yes 40mb/s from a USB3 enclosure can be normal, it takes about 1 and a half days to transfer around 3TB of data from the USB

Re: Slow Copy Speeds from USB
i have just tested i get between 65mb - 72mb from a 4.5gb file
Seagate BarraCuda 6 TB 5400rpm drive in the NAS (no raid just single drive)
and in the usb3 enclosure i have a Toshiba X300 5TB 7200RPM drive
so both are showing over the USB2 speed limit but it is on the lower end of the speed spectrum of USB3 (above USB2)
also hopefully I haven't misunderstood, you are trying to copy from the USB to the drive on the NAS arent you using the file manager once logged into the web admin? therefore no client computer or network is actually involved in the copy process?

Re: Slow Copy Speeds from USB
Hi, I was using the file manager as the usb drive is connected to the NAS and transfer speeds is only about 40-50mbs per second, there is definitely bottle neck from the usb to the Sata bus.
As it is I have now connected the usb drive to an android box and I am copying the files via nfs, network transfer speed is showing average 450mbs which is 10x faster between me and you .

Re: Slow Copy Speeds from USB
just checking we were testing the same sort of thing to compare
network wise I do seem to have a strange situation where I get 45MB/s (360mbps) from Nas to PC, however from PC to Nas it can go up to 110MB/s (900mbps) i am assuming this is down to my poor choice in hard drive
this is going to be a silly thought have you tried both USB ports?
