Re: TOS 7.0.1422 (x86) Official Release Update
I upgraded from tos 6.0.794 to tos 7.0.1422. Both updates seemed to work fine and the ACL permissions thing ran for 12 mins and then stopped and said success. However, my ACLs are all borked. I cant open ods encrypted files in most of the folders but not all of them. I cannot copy files from fedora to nas as I get perm errors.
My fedora fstab file is same that Ive been using for years. The name being passed to nas is correct. The user perms in file manager on nas are correct. This nas is just a file sharing nas and there are no apps or exotic setups.
help?
edit 1: I opened filemanager and clicked apply to all subfolders and files and it started doing something and then it "Operation failed and timed out" There are 12 tb and 1 million + files and so something did not run long enough to fix this.
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Not what I want to be doing right now my guys!
edit2: this is on user home dir.
edit3: I pulled drives and reinstalled 6.0.974 and everything worked as before. I then hit update and downloaded tos 7 from online update. After applying update, I logged in and it asked to do a conversion of files and perms. I clicked yes to automatic conversion. It ran for 12 mins and then said it completed successfully yet I have same problem. I have 1 million + files and thousands of dirs.
There is obviously a bug and wtf was this not identified in the lab FFS????????? Plain jane nas setup with no custom configs but just lots of files and folders and it croaks during acl permission process. This is second time in last 6 months i've tried to upgrade to tos 7 and its been a disaster every time and I lose countless hours.
Beta software. Now, I gotta reinstall tos 6.0.974 again ffs....

Re: TOS 7.0.1422 (x86) Official Release Update
This is because you can't do it like this. You can't go from 6.0.974 to 7.0.1422 directly.
You should read this and do it step by step : viewtopic.php?t=10183&sid=342a1292b77a3 ... 07358c06c8

Re: TOS 7.0.1422 (x86) Official Release Update
they WhyTF is online update sending out wrong update?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Last night i did manual update with tos 6 to tos 7.0.747 or similar and then I updated it to tos 7.1422 and it borked acls. Tonight (earlier morning) I reinstalled tos 6 and just hit online update and got same situation.
Im reinstalling tos 6.0.974 and will apply it manually..if it F***** faills again..I'll let you know. This is beyond lame. The algos for this have been solved for decades...is it more AI slop?
edit1: reinstalled tos 6.0.974 and MANUALLY upgraded to tos 7.0.0747..now it is saying convert shared folder and permission after I log in...w00t. I clicked manual convert and it popped up a window that had media shared drive but nothing about what to do to convert..hahahahaha....then I opened filemanager and clicked home dirs and my username and then clicked apply perms to all subfolders and files and after 2 mins, it threw up 2 error msgs with red box, saying error and time out..hahahahah...again, a plain jane vanilla nas with lots of files on a supported nas device for tos 7..countless hours lost....how do users convert folder/file perms manually after upgrading to tos 7.
edit2: Ill reinstall tos 6.0794 again and then MANUALLY upgrade to tos 7.0747 and try the auto conversion thing again...wtf is this so terrible...4th time reinstalling tos 6.0.0794...just awful...root canals are more fun ffs.

Re: TOS 7.0.1422 (x86) Official Release Update
@erichan, I contact Leon over at the chat link that you provided. And while I was reinstalling the tos 6.0794 for the 5th time, my data is now lost..all 30 tbs...fantastico. I asked Leon if he or someone logged in and made changes...he is terrible liar...and apparently someone did something..not cool. Anyhoo, thanks for this time spent together..nothing has been resolved..and I hope you all have a great weekend.
edit1: i complained about how awful this process was and now after contacting chat, all my data is gone..hahahahaha...what a coincidence..hahaha..thanks.
edit2: I flashed new usb drive to tos 7 for my nas model and the volume1 is still gone..hahahahha..so if you criticize their product and ask them for help on chat, you will lose your data..
Leon lied about logging into my nas. Pfsense. He also lied about missing data and said it was a kernel mismatch LOL. To delete your data over someone criticizing your product..WOW.
Leon, I totally forgive you man. I do hope you get some help for that anger.
Thanks again for wasting 11 hours, deleting all my data..thanks..hahahaha..so funny!

Looks like Terramaster is ok to good with hardware but still with immature software (TOS).billyBob wrote: ↑Today, 19:40 @erichan, I contact Leon over at the chat link that you provided.
