I can hear a noise difference, but what I'm confused about is why the "Smart fan" setting doesn't ever seem to increase the speed of the fan.

Why do I get notifications about HDD temperatures, yet hear no increase in the fan speed.
I have to manually change it to "Full speed", which is rather noisy. I'd rather leave it on "Smart fan" and the OS or BIOS automatically adjust the speed as needed.
Isn't that the point of a setting called "Smart fan"?
