[Help] F4-424 pro randomly shuts down abnormal und starts to sync volumes

Post by Tronix4u »

I set um my system a few weeks ago (F4-424 pro) using 2 NVMe (WD Red SN700 500GB) as RAID system-volume and 2 Toshiba N300 NAS HDD 8TB as mass storage volumes in RAID. Everything worked fine but now the NAS shuts down randomly while copying photos from my old Synology-NAS with an error-message ("possibly a faulty power-supply or a system-error"). The PSU works fine so there must be a system-error since it starts to sync the SSDs and the HDDs. With 8TB HDDs it takes forever... How can I diagnose the real cause for this behaviour? Any log-files to look for?

An unexpected power cut or sudden reboot leaves RAID arrays in an unclean state, which is why TOS automatically triggers a volume resync upon startup to ensure parity consistency and protect data integrity.

To diagnose the root cause of the unexpected shutdown during heavy file transfer, please check the following:

1. Memory Module:

If you have upgraded or installed third-party RAM, memory timing issues or unstable memory cells often trigger a kernel panic and an immediate reboot under heavy I/O caching. If upgraded, try testing with the original RAM module to see if the issue persists.

2. Obtain Diagnostic Logs:
  • Go to TOS Desktop > Technical Support > Debug Mode and enable Debug mode.
  • Once the issue reproduces, download the debug log and generate a system report via TOS Desktop > Support & Help > Issue Report.
  • Send both files to our technical support team at support(at)terra-master.com, along with this forum thread URL and your forum username.
Our technical team will inspect the kernel logs and hardware power state records to pinpoint whether this is caused by a kernel crash, hardware exception, or power anomaly.
To contact our team, please send email to following addresses, remember to replace (at) with @

Technical team: support(at)terra-master.com(for technical support)
Service team: service(at)terra-master.com(for purchasing, return, replacement, RMA service)

Thank you for your quick response :-)
Right now I do a S.M.A.R.T. check on both HDD, then I will see what to do next.
