TerraSync for android

Post by deniskkk »

It would be a nice feature to use terrasync on android/ios device. Want to explain my use case. I am using password storage that stores my password in encrypted file. I want to sync this file between my NAS, PC and Android phone for it to be up to date.

Currently, TerraSync does not have an Android or iOS client, and there are no immediate plans for mobile development. If you need to back up photos and videos, we recommend using the TNAS mobile app.
The requirement you mentioned—keeping an encrypted password database synchronized across your NAS, PC, and Android devices—is essentially a standard file synchronization task that does not involve proprietary formats. In theory, TerraSync’s synchronization engine is fully capable of handling files like .kdbx.
I will log this request and pass it on to the product team. Thank you for taking the time to explain your specific use case; this is very helpful for us in prioritizing feature requests.

I've just gotten the basic stuff set up after switching from Synology, but I'm having trouble understanding how to get syncing active on my Android phone (for miscellaneous files, incidentally, not photos and videos). I installed the Terrasync Client alongside the server and tried accessing it via the TNAS app, but it's marked "Only accessible via web browser." I logged in via my browser and can access the app, but this isn't feeling like what you suggested. If it works at all, is only going to sync while I have the page open and in focus? That would defeat the purpose--that wouldn't be syncing, that would be a more-convoluted version of the basic file manager.

The TNAS mobile app does not currently support syncing files other than photos and videos.
To use TerraSync, you’ll need to use the TerraSync sync/backup module integrated into the TNAS PC. For detailed instructions, please refer to:

I don't see where that page references Android or mobile devices. Again, I already have syncing set up on my PC: I'm wanting to sync some of the files on my phone, as advertised by the Terrasync page that I quoted in my previous post. If this isn't accomplished through the mobile app, how do I get it to work?

We don't have a dedicated tool for syncing mobile device files, but you might want to try looking for third-party mobile sync tools that use file protocols such as SMB, FTP, or WebDAV to connect to your NAS and enable synchronization. For example, VerySync.
