The most common cause is the accidental triggering of the "Scheduled Power On/Off" or "Wake-on-LAN (WOL)" function within the TOS system.

Possible causes:
1. Scheduled Power On/Off: A scheduled power-on task may have been inadvertently enabled in the "Hardware & Power" settings of TOS. If you have configured the device to power on at a specific time daily or weekly, it will automatically start up when that time arrives after being shut down.
2. Wake-on-LAN (WOL): If another device (or router) on the same LAN sends a "Magic Packet" and the WOL function is enabled, the NAS will wake up. Note that only the LAN1 port supports this feature.

Check the TOS settings in this order:
1. Check the power schedule: Go to Control Panel > General Settings > Hardware & Power and check if "Enable" is selected under "Scheduled Power On/Off." If it is, uncheck it and observe whether the device still powers on automatically.
2. Disable Wake-on-LAN (WOL): On the same page, check if "Wake-on-LAN" is enabled. If you do not need remote wake-up capabilities, try turning it off. If you do require WOL, ensure that the device sending the wake-up packet is functioning correctly.

everything is off, and again it turns on by itself. Do I need maybe to update BIOS? My present BIOS is MADN0101.V05

Are you using the power supply that came with the unit? Check the power connector is not loose and/or is fully plugged into the unit. You could possible check the bios and set the 'power state' for 'when power returns' to be off. I do not have exactly the same model as you so not sure where the exact bios setting is.
I have a F2-424 (basic) and had issues with 'unexpected power issues' which turned out to be an issue with the power supply I was using (not oem). I have found that (on at least some Tnas) the unit will turn on just by reconnecting the power supply without waiting for the on/off switch to be pressed.

BIOS MADN0101.V05 is standard factory firmware, so updating the BIOS is not immediately necessary. This behavior is typically caused by external network wake signals, connected peripherals, or unstable power delivery.

Please test the following steps to isolate the cause:

1. Disconnect all network cables:

Shut down the NAS gracefully, unplug all Ethernet cables, and observe if it still turns on by itself after a few minutes. If it does not, the startup is being triggered by a network packet or wake event.

2. Disconnect all external USB devices:

Unplug any external USB drives, hubs, or UPS communication cables to see if the issue persists.

3. Check the power supply and socket:

Ensure you are using the original TerraMaster power adapter and try plugging it directly into a wall outlet rather than a shared power strip, as transient voltage drops can sometimes trigger an automatic restart.

To help us investigate further:
  • Go to TOS Desktop > Technical Support > Debug Mode and enable Debug mode.
  • Once the issue reproduces, download the debug log and generate a system report via TOS Desktop > Support & Help > Issue Report.
  • Send both files to our technical support team at support(at)terra-master.com, along with this forum thread URL and your forum username.
