Can I install iCloud backup software onto this device so my data is stored to the cloud?

I don't think Apple has opened up iCloud Drive access to any third-party platform, only their macOS and iOS flavoured devices. So you'd have to backup your Mac to the TNAS and include the iCloud folders with tools like Time Machine backup.
