I would agree with you. However, it may surprise you with the number of users that want (indeed, demand) exactly the opposite behaviour. The manufacturer just can't win!

Re: [Help] D2-320 aggressive re-enumeration power-cycling on macOS
Has anyone found a fix? Does that firmware fixes this? The support states that every other enclosure does the same on MAC OS as it follows OS behaviour
Re: [Help] D2-320 aggressive re-enumeration power-cycling on macOS
The D2-320 will go into sleep mode along with the system. Please describe in detail the issue you are currently experiencing, and we will provide suggestions based on that.

Re: [Help] D2-320 aggressive re-enumeration power-cycling on macOS
The behaviour is quirky.
Sometimes it will continuously powers on and off the drive (like the original author of the thread posted), but after rebooting the Mac it seems to behave correctly and keep the drive running if the OS doesn't kill it.
It seems that if the drive is then ejected and re-connected once the Mac has been already running, it starts to behave erroneously.
Re: [Help] D2-320 aggressive re-enumeration power-cycling on macOS
Based on your description, this may be related to how macOS re-enumerates the USB storage device and restores its power management state after the drive has been ejected and reconnected. This would also explain why restarting the Mac can temporarily restore normal behavior.
We would like to investigate this further rather than simply treating it as normal disk sleep behavior.
Could you please let us know which macOS version and Mac model you are currently using? If possible, we would also appreciate a system log captured while reproducing the issue, particularly around the time you eject and reconnect the D2-320.
You can open Terminal and run:
log stream --info --predicate 'process == "kernel"'
Then eject the D2-320, reconnect it, and allow the issue to occur for a short period. Please provide the relevant log output.
We will use this information to check whether there are any USB, UAS, SCSI reset, or power-management events occurring during the reconnect process.

Hello, I tried a different cable and it shows no problems.CursaYang wrote: ↑03 Sep 2026, 18:39 Based on your description, this may be related to how macOS re-enumerates the USB storage device and restores its power management state after the drive has been ejected and reconnected. So the included cable with my unit is defective, is it possible to have a replacement? Thanks

Would you tell the series number of the product? you can find it from the bottom of the unit.
