[Help] Need Help Regarding Device Initialization

Post by nouman »

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue while installing TOS 7 on my TerraMaster F4-424 Max. The installation consistently gets stuck at 80%, and I am unable to complete the initialization.

System Details:

Model: TerraMaster F4-424 Max
TOS Version: TOS 7 (latest available)
Hard Drives: 4 × 6TB Seagate IronWolf (all brand new and healthy)
RAID: Fresh installation (no existing data)
NVMe SSD: Not installed

Troubleshooting Performed:

Verified that all four hard drives are detected in the BIOS.
Confirmed that all drives are new and healthy.
Reinitialized the NAS multiple times.
Performed the installation using a direct Ethernet connection between the NAS and my laptop.
Accessed the NAS through the console and confirmed that the installDaemon process is running during installation, but the web interface remains stuck at 80% indefinitely.

Could anyone please advise:

Is an NVMe SSD mandatory for installing TOS 7 on the F4-424 Max?
Can TOS 7 be installed using only the four SATA hard drives?
Has anyone experienced the installation hanging at 80%, and if so, what was the solution?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards,
Muhammad NoumanImage

Regarding your questions and the installation issue on your F4-424 Max, please find the details below:

1. Is an NVMe SSD mandatory for installing TOS 7 on the F4-424 Max?
No. An NVMe SSD is completely optional. TOS 7 creates the operating system partition directly across your installed SATA HDDs.

2. Can TOS 7 be installed using only four SATA hard drives?
Yes. You can successfully initialize and install TOS 7 using only your four SATA hard drives.

3. Has anyone experienced the installation hanging at 80%, and what is the solution?
