[Help] Data / system not accessible after power loss
Hello,
After a power loss, the data of my T9-450 TOS6 was not accessible anymore (blank UI, just the bakcground image, no icon, network shares not available anymore).
I tried to reinstall the system (a tutorial was saying that data was left untouched in this case).
This first step went well (bootloader, TOS installation) but when the system restarted for the first "real" boot, I wasn't able to ping the system anymore (no DHCP lease, neither using its original IP address).
I installed a graphic card, it seems that the system is booting well (from the information I was able to see during bootup) but then the prompt asks for a login and password, and the credentials I was used to enter doesn't work.
Could you assist me in getting access to my device & data again ? Thanks a lot !

Re: [Help] Data / system not accessible after power loss
Can you advise which version of TOS was installed prior to the power loss and which was re-installed?
Was the system on a UPS? Power loss may well have caused some corruption of the drives. What Storage Pools/Volumes/Files systems have been installed. Raid arrays?

Re: [Help] Data / system not accessible after power loss
Sorry to hear about the power outage issue.
Under normal circumstances, after reinstalling TOS, you will be required to reconfigure your account credentials via the TOS web interface. Did you see this?
With respect to the "login name and password" prompt — was this information displayed on the HDMI‑connected monitor? If you have not yet established an initial account, the default credentials are typically admin/admin or root/admin.
If you can get into the terminal, try setting a static IP manually:

Re: [Help] Data / system not accessible after power loss
First of all, thank you both for your replies.
Here is some additional information:
- There's a UPS, but not connected via USB to this device, so the TNAS crashed as the outaged lasted for a long time
- TNAS is running version 6.0.794 / Same version reinstalled.
- There's 1 datastore (ext4) built on top of a TRAID volume (Mixed 6TB - 14TB disks)
- No access to the web interface upon reboot (after reinstalling TOS6) because there is no network (no DHCP lease / previous IP address lost / not detected anymore by the TNAS Windows app)
- So, I wasn't able to reconfigure my credentials after the first reboot.
- From the console, I just have a Linux prompt asking for login then password but the credentials I was used to enter on the web interface does not work.
- Please note that T9-450 doesn't have any HDMI port, I installed a grphic card on the motherboard to get the console
Thanks again for your precisous help ! I hope you can help me get out of this tight spot.
Regards.

Re: [Help] Data / system not accessible after power loss
Thanks again for your help.
I don't have access to the machine right now (offices are closed for the holidays), but I feel like I tried every standard login/password combination without success before coming to this forum.
And since I unfortunately can't access the Linux prompt, I can't see what's happening on the network side...
I'm stuck with 80TB of inaccessible data... Is there perhaps a TerraMaster service account or something similar?
Best regards.

Re: [Help] Data / system not accessible after power loss
Upon powering on the T9-450, do the HDD status indicators exhibit continuous flashing? (This may be indicative of an ongoing repair or reorganization process.)
It cannot be ruled out that an anomaly within the HDDs or the HDD RAID configuration may be impacting the boot sequence or normal operation of TOS.
The T9-450 is equipped with an M.2 2280 NVMe slot. You could try reinstalling it on the M.2 SSD instead. That might get TOS running, but it won't guarantee that the HDD RAID will show up or work properly.
Please keep us informed of any further observations.

Re: [Help] Data / system not accessible after power loss
Hello.
No, the drive LEDs stop flashing once the operating system has loaded (unfortunately).
Installing the OS on an NVMe drive is a great idea; the challenge will be figuring out how to restore the storage setup, as I’m not sure exactly how the TNAS RAID is implemented !
One other question: since the T9-450 is a professional-grade model, is there official support available from Terramaster, or do I have to rely on the goodwill of the forum community (which I really appreciate)?
Have a good day and thanks again for your support !
