[Help] Bandwidth I/O graphs wrong with LACP aggregated NICs

Post by renob »

F4-425 Plus
TOS 6.0.794-01324
UniFi USW Pro XG 8 PoE switch with link aggregation on two consecutive ports

Network bandwidth graphs on the Overview and Resource Monitor pages are doubling actual bandwidth usage when using LACP aggregation.

Both NICs on the NAS are linked to my switch at 5 gbps each but the PC that is uploading files to the NAS only has a 2.5 gbps port.

Graphs report 600 MB/s network throughput which is impossible.

You only see correct information on the Resource Monitor page if you manually select the single NIC which is transferring data.

Here is one last example with an upload from a 5gbe PC showing 1000 MB/s throughput.

The doubled bandwidth display with an LACP bond is not present in TOS 7.

Screenshots from a 2.5 gbe PC uploading to the NAS.

We suspect your Bond wasn't set up properly. Could you go to Control Panel > Network > Interfaces, expand each interface to show its details, and send us a screenshot?
After that, try removing the Bond and recreating it — that might help for now.

Before creating an LACP-type bond, did you bind the corresponding ports on your switch?

I reported on 7/20 that the bug was NOT happening on TOS 7. It was happening on TOS 6.

The only thing that changed was the TOS version so this appears to simply be a bug in TOS 6 as far as my testing is concerned.

The switch configuration is not at fault. Link aggregation (LACP) was configured on two consecutive ports as is required by my switch before the NAS was configured for the bond.

I don't plan on changing anything since upgrading to TOS 7 has fixed the bug.
