ClamAV - additional settings

Post by Gremlin »

I have noticed that ClamAV can bring my lower powered nas units (-221) to their knees (figuratively) when running scans. This is particularly noticeable on the F5-221 presumably due to the array environment (4 x Traid) and the choice to run 'realtime' protection as well. (Utilising 10GB ram and updated to Tos7 yesterday.)

I am aware that linux provides several mechanisms to permit the limitation of resources, but that complicates the actual implementation outside of the provided app.

:?: Would it be possible to provide settings, within the app, to limit cpu or memory resources, if the user requires it :?:
F5-221 TOS7.0.0777 - 4x4TB (Ironwolf) Traid
F2-424 TOS7.0.0777 - 2x500GB nvme (P3) Traid, 2x6TB HDD (HGST) Traid
F2-221 TOS7.0.0777 - 1x3TB Ext4, 1x4TB Btrfs
F2-425+ TOS7.0.0777 - 2x500GB nvme (P3) Traid, 2x6TB HDD (EXOS) Traid

System resource consumption is related to the characteristics of the application. This application needs to scan the system, thus consuming a significant amount of resources.

Regarding your suggestion to add resource consumption limits to the application, I will forward this request to the product team for evaluation.
