Has anyone used a Cuba eSIM travel guide to prepare their internet connection there?

Post by lilhugo »

Hi,

I'm traveling to Cuba in three weeks, and I have a genuine question about internet connectivity there. I have a TeraMaster NAS at home (an F4-423 that I absolutely love), and I was planning to keep remote access to it while I'm on the island, at least to retrieve a few files. The problem is... Cuba is Cuba. The network can be unreliable, and nothing is really guaranteed. While looking into ways to handle this, I came across a Cuba eSIM travel guide that explained the available options for getting mobile data there, including which providers actually offer coverage across the country. It mainly mentioned Cubacel, but also pointed out that access to certain services can be pretty restricted.
My question is: has anyone managed to maintain a stable VPN tunnel to their NAS from Cuba using an eSIM? Do the usual ports work, or are they generally blocked? For example, does port 5443 work, or is it typically inaccessible?
