Re: Power Disable SATA on TDAS D6-320
Some hard drives include the Power Disable (PWDIS) feature. Does the D6-320 backplane support such drives? I don’t mind if the D6-320 doesn’t support the feature, but I’m concerned that it might prevent the drive from powering on. I want to know if drives with this feature will work when plugged in.

The D6-320 does not support the Power Disable (PWDIS) feature, but it can enter sleep mode along with the computer system, effectively extending the lifespan of the hard drives.

Re: Power Disable SATA on TDAS D6-320
Ok that's fine, but do you know that if I plug in drives like these: https://serverpartdeals.com/collections ... -s-3-5-hddThe D6-320 does not support the Power Disable (PWDIS) feature
Will they work?
Is that configurable in any way?enter sleep mode along with the computer system

Re: Power Disable SATA on TDAS D6-320
PWDIS has been part of the SATA standard for a while now. If your hardware doesn't support it properly and sends 3.3v on PIN 3 of the SATA port, then any drives that support PWDIS will remain powered down and never start up when connected to your hardware.
Can you please check with your engineers if this is the case? Because that will make your enclosures incompatible with any drives that support this standard.
Some relevant reading - https://documents.westerndigital.com/co ... le-pin.pdf (this was written in 2018 hence why it only lists older disks).
Re: Power Disable SATA on TDAS D6-320
Thanks for your patience. I have consulted with our hardware engineering team regarding your concern about the Power Disable (PWDIS) feature on the D6-320.
They have confirmed that the SATA interface on the D6-320 does not provide a 3.3V power output on Pin 3. Since there is no voltage on this pin, hard drives that support the SATA 3.3 PWDIS standard will function normally and spin up as expected when connected to the enclosure. You don't need to worry about the compatibility issues or the need for "tape fixes" for Pin 3.

Great, thanks EriChan.
