[Help] D6-320 no longer recognizing drives
I have a D6-320 6 Bay TerraMaster enclosure bought two or three years ago. It's connected to my Windows 11 laptop. There are two 22TB drives in bays 1 and 3. A third 22TB drive is in a separate enclosure. They are all connected through a USB hub. It worked great for a while, but I recently had to move some things around. Now it's not recognizing the drives. I still get the other drive in the separate container (that's F: drive, which contains my working data.) But for some reason the TerraMaster unit isn't registering anything. It should read an H: drive and an I: drive, containing nothing but videos, but they're not there. Any ideas?
Re: [Help] D6-320 no longer recognizing drives
We need to confirm the following:
1. Are all your DAS devices using single-disk mode?
2. Which hard drive did you move to which location?
3. What are the slot numbers for drives H and I?
4. Can drives H and I be correctly recognized when connected to separate hard drive enclosures?

Re: [Help] D6-320 no longer recognizing drives
Q1: I'm not sure what you mean by single-disk mode, but based on the wording, I would guess yes.
Q2: I believe everything was replaced exactly as it was before.
Q3: H: drive is in Slot 1. I: drive is in Slot 3. I did try placing the drives in different slots, but it didn't seem to help.
Q4: I tried both drives in my separate container, and they work fine, and all data appears to be intact. But I only have one container available for now, so without the TerraMaster I don't have a way of accessing all drives at once.
I think that answers your questions the best I can for now. If you need more detail on anything, let me know and I'll do my best to find the information. I'll check back in some time tomorrow.

Re: [Help] D6-320 no longer recognizing drives
Knowing that your two 22TB hard drives can be normally recognized and the data is intact in other external enclosures, this indicates that the hard drives themselves are healthy.
Regarding the issue where your D6-320 still cannot recognize the hard drives in Slot 1 and Slot 3, we can now focus on the most critical troubleshooting directions: ruling out USB signal attenuation and power supply issues.
You mentioned earlier that you connected it via a USB Hub. Although the Hub can handle other low-power enclosures, the D6-320, as a 6-bay device, has extremely high requirements for signal stability.

- Please make sure to use the original data cable and power adapter.
- Try connecting the D6-320 directly to the USB port on your laptop. If your laptop has multiple ports, try connecting to the one with the USB 3.2 Gen2 (10Gbps) label.
- After ensuring that the hard drive indicator lights are green, press Win + X and select Disk Management to check if the hard drives can be displayed normally in Windows Disk Management.

Re: [Help] D6-320 no longer recognizing drives
The original TerraMaster order was placed through Amazon on May 22, 2024. I'm sure I set everything up with the original power supply and USB cable, and it was working fine. I suppose it's possible that when I moved everything, that either the power supply or the USB was changed. Like most people, I have dozens of power supplies and literally hundreds of USB cables available. Is it possible to replace them with originals? (I sure you can tell I'm more of a software guy than a hardware guy.)
By the way, I've been using Disk Management to attempt to read the drives. I go through the Rescan Disks procedure. I get a brief message "Disk Rescan is in progress. Please wait." But there is no result. Same result if I hit Refresh, but without the message. By the way, the disks have a green light on both bays with disks. When everything was working, there would be two green lights per bay. I read somewhere that the left light indicated the drive was reading/writing while the right light just meant that it was available. The left light never comes on anymore, but the right light is always on.
I did try connecting my TerraMaster directly to my laptop, but it did nothing. There is only one USB port on the laptop, so I have very few options for working without a hub. My other container with my only working disc, and my external DVD drive, both go through it.

Re: [Help] D6-320 no longer recognizing drives
Based on the detailed information you provided, I've outlined the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Core Troubleshooting: Power Adapter and Data Cable Confusion
Additionally, you mentioned previously using a USB Hub. Even though you've tried connecting directly without success, please maintain the direct connection for further troubleshooting, as hubs are often the root cause of power and signal instability.
2. Device Manager Check
Simply checking "Disk Management" may not be sufficient. Please follow these steps to check if Windows detects the hardware:
1. Core Troubleshooting: Power Adapter and Data Cable Confusion
- Non-original power adapters may have insufficient output voltage/current, which can cause the hard disk to spin (green light) but leave the main control chip with insufficient voltage to establish a USB handshake connection.
- The D6-320 uses a USB 3.2 Gen2 (10Gbps) protocol with a 1-meter USB Type-C to C cable when using the original data cable. Non-original or poor-quality cables can cause significant signal attenuation.
- Press the Win + X keys and select Device Manager.
- Expand "Disk drives" and "Universal Serial Bus controllers."
- Observe whether there are any changes in the list when you plug in or unplug the D6-320's USB cable, or if an "Unknown device" with a yellow exclamation mark appears.
