[Help] Question regarding Firewall and Internet access

Post by CapCaveman »

I just upgraded to the F2-425 and works super well. I just have a doubt:

In my old F2-421, when I enabled the firewall to allow only local access, the right panel showed Internet: Disconnected. Plex and all other programs could not access the internet. That was fine.

Now in the F2-425, I enabled the same rule, but Plex can access the internet. Also, the right panel shows WAN and the public ip. I cant access the NAS from the internet, which is fine. But is there a way to show internet: disconnected or is my setup OK?

Attached are the images.

Thanks!

The firewall rules of the new version of TOS6 are significantly different from those of TOS4.

Firewalls do not automatically generate deny rules. As long as allow rules are set, IP addresses or ports not within the allowed range are by default accessible. To reject access from specific IP addresses or ports, corresponding deny rules must be explicitly created.

Hi, thanks for the info. I checked the documentation and says:

Example: Setting up firewall rules to restrict access to TANS for specific IP network segments.
To allow only the A network segment’s IP access to TANS and deny access to all other network segments, follow these steps:

Create an allow rule permitting IP access from the A network segment.
Create a deny rule restricting access from all other network segments.

But there is no example image. I enabled my A network allowed segment like this:

But how do I configure the Deny firewall for everything else? I tried like this and gives an error which does not allow to continue:

Update: I made a firewall rule on my router. Just blocked any incoming traffic to the NAS and solved.

Could you explain how you configured the firewall rules on the F2-425 and whether any adjustments are necessary to achieve an "Internet: Disconnected" status similar to what you experienced with the F2-421?

You need to add a rule to the existing rules that rejects all outbound traffic in order to display a "Internet: Disconnected" status similar to F2-421.
Please refer to this link to create rules: https://toshelp.terra-master.com/web/#/en/security
