If the D4-320 has two HDD's installed, how will the F4-424 Pro see them, I assume as two different drives?
(I don't have the D4-320 yet)
Anything I should know before I do attach the unit to the F4-424 Pro?

Re: [Help] Can I attach an D4-320 to F4-424 Pro
Each slot of the D4-320 is independent, and the F4-424 Pro (TOS) can properly identify each HDD.
If you are using it solely as a USB storage device, there are no special considerations.
If you intend to connect the D4-320 to the F4-424 Pro for long-term use as a SATA expansion, and create TOS-specific storage pools and volumes within the D4-320, please note that you must power on the D4-320 before powering on the F4-424 Pro each time.

Re: [Help] Can I attach an D4-320 to F4-424 Pro
Ok update: I now have the 320 attached to my F6-424. The 320 has two 12TB HDD installed.
No idea if this means anything, but when each drive was formatted as ext4, the disk lights on the front would constantly flash even with no activity.
Since I have really copied any data yet, I could experiment.
When both drives were formatted as exFat the disk lights would just flash once every 10 seconds.
Bottom line the drive works fine, whatever the timing of the lights is.
I am trying to next figure out how I can best use this device between my three devices.
I might try the SATA expansion route, not sure yet.

I will be using your long-term solution as I do not want to keep unplugging the USB cable and attaching between the other two NAS's.TMzethar wrote: ↑14 Mar 2026, 19:36 Each slot of the D4-320 is independent, and the F4-424 Pro (TOS) can properly identify each HDD.

Good point, I assume there is a way to edit the grub menu on the F6-424 (that's where I have the D4-320 connected to) and increase the boot menu delay, ensuring the D4 is up and ready. Seems like a simple way to do that and sounds impressive.
