[Help] F4-425 Plus - Systematic and random NAS reboot
I have a "F4-425 Plus" since few months. Every day at 10PM, the NAS reboots and I receive an email telling me that TNAS was shut down abnormally! The NAS also reboots randomly every day. Sometimes, there is no heavy process, but it crashes a lot when streaming movies on Jellyfin.
I don't have many apps installed. I have FFMPEG, FFMPEG51 and MODBASE1. I also have one Docker container for Jellyfin.
On my Jellyfin dashboard, in the transcoding section, I selected Video Acceleration API (VAAPI). Hardware decoding is enabled for all formats. In the encoding section, I selected Enable hardware encoding.
Could someone help me?
Thank you

Hi
Are there any other users? Have you created any scheduled tasks?
What is the current version of TOS you are using?
Are you using the original power adapter? Is the LED light on the power adapter bright?
What is the quantity, model, and capacity of the HDD/SSD you have installed?
Have you connected any UPS or battery-powered system?
You might consider enabling Debug mode. When the exception occurs again, you can download the 3 Debug files and send them to us via private message through a sharing link for analysis.

Re: [Help] F4-425 Plus - Systematic and random NAS reboot
Hi TMzethar, thanks for your reply. I've been answered by Eric at TM Support.
Here is an update :
I disabled the Media indexing.
I have not stopped the jellyfin service, but I'm now pretty sure that it is the problem. In the "Scheduled Tasks" section, I saw many tasks that run once a day. I changed the execution time to 3:00AM.
I also noticed that we can execute manually scheduled tasks. So I launched them one after the other. The "Generate Trickplay Images" task crashed and made the NAS reboot. I think that we found the cause.
In Jellyfin logs, I saw an error about "UNIQUE constraint failed", but it does not seem to be the faulty one. I think the problematic error is this one :
NEbml.Core.EbmlDataFormatException: Length bigger than 8 is not supported
at NEbml.Core.VInt.Read(Stream source, Int32 maxLength, Byte[] buffer)
at NEbml.Core.EbmlReader.ReadElement()
at Jellyfin.MediaEncoding.Keyframes.Matroska.MatroskaKeyframeExtractor.GetKeyframeData(String filePath)
at Jellyfin.MediaEncoding.Hls.Extractors.MatroskaKeyframeExtractor.TryExtractKeyframes(Guid itemId, String filePath, KeyframeData& keyframeData)
There are few errors like that and after there is a gap in timestamps.
Maybe it's not of your concern because it's a third party app.
I will go further to see if I can make the "Generate Trickplay Images" task work.
Thanks

Okay, we are very concerned about this issue that can cause power outages and restarts. We will keep an eye on it.
So, was your Jellyfin app installed via apt or Docker? Actually, there is also a Jellyfin app in the App Center.

Jellyfin is running via Docker. I first tried the app from the App Center, but I was not able to use hardware acceleration and the NAS was rebooting everytime I watched 4K movie. So the Docker version is more stable for me.

UPDATE : Even I changed task execution time to 3:00AM, they ran at 10:00PM and the NAS rebooted. I hope that tomorrow the deleted tasks will not run.
Re: [Help] F4-425 Plus - Systematic and random NAS reboot
Okay, looking forward to the results of your subsequent attempts.
Also, please let me know the current BIOS version of the NAS. (It can be found under Control Panel - System Information)
Is your RAM stick original? Or has it been replaced or had third-party RAM added? If possible, please take photos of both sides of it so we can confirm.

Will the system still have random restarts after you delete the task?

Re: [Help] F4-425 Plus - Systematic and random NAS reboot
Some good news : the 10PM reboot is gone (thanks to the deleted task)
Bad news : NAS has crashed few times when forwarding a movie
Should I try to use the Jellyfin app from the App Center?
Should I use Emby?
