Regarding volume-level encryption, this feature is currently not supported; only shared folder encryption is supported. I will pass this requirement to the product team for evaluation. As for data deduplication, it was implemented through an application in previous versions, and I will relay this to the product team to explore its feasibility in the new system. Regarding the file management transfer issue, this is a known issue, and please wait for a fix in the subsequent versions.

ATM at TOS6, I'm not able to spin up even wireguard with docker container because for some weird reason netscript tries to disable wg0 interface and removes default route.
TOS 7 provides this application in the App Center, which can be installed and run directly in the App Center.

For all ×86/×64 TNAS series devices prior to the current 425 series, there has been an internal initial bootloader environment (initboot) USB drive which facilitates the installation of TOS onto installed/installed HDDs and/or NVMe drives [the 425 series devices have moved to a USB Disk On Module (USB DOM), versus the flash drive used previously].

For your 221 series TNAS, here's an image of its internal location (behind the HDMI port & internal jst FAN headers): Image

The 425 series TNAS has the following module (it's located behind the front power button & USB 3.2 Gen 1 port): Image
Question - if the internal initboot USB was bad wouldn't the install of the TOS6 .ins fail as well as the TOS7 install?? Both have the same boot image.

If the internal one is bad, you'll never even get presented with that option since it wouldn't ever start the wizard.

In the case where it's bad, you could make another initboot USB flash drive & connect to an external (facing) port to get into the process/wizard.

Tnas Mobile

I just am in the process of getting another NAS setup with TOS 7 (F2-425 Plus), and it made me notice that it looks like there might be an issue with setting permissions to any share that was created in TOS 6 (even after the auto permissions conversion after the TOS 7 update) in the Shared Folder tab in the settings app. Any changes I make don't save when apply is clicked (literally nothing happens as if I never pressed the button). It looks like you can still set permissions via the file browser instead however.

I am on newest TOS 7 Beta, from yesterday

1. Apps need to startup faster , they are not ready to open right away ( within a couple of minuts) and when you click lets say docker , you will open up the app where you either uninstall or can click open and so on,
2. cache in text editor and in file management needs to be cleared, i have many times not , replaced a file with new file and when i then wants to edit the file , it opens the old file instead of the new ( even though the new file has been replaced) the solution was to delete the folder where the file was , create a new folder with new name ( not the same name) and then start edit again.
3. we realy need root access when doing shell commands
4. there is a lot of load on the system for small task , so it might be a priority somewhere that needs to be looked at.
5. Duple.. what a nightmare that software can be, not just on TOS 7 but also in TOS6 , it is NOT intuativ and often crasches because it cant find the path., and then you have to do a new task or edit the one you have , and hope for the best
6. more apps for backup to another nas / storage server ( not TAN )
7. I found building and adding disc takes along time compared to a hardware slower synology.. so it could be something that needs your attention.
8. reverse proxy could be a great feature to add to the TOS 7

for now i think the system looks nice, though there are always room for improvements , but overall , great job the team has made so far.

I noticed it in the Control Panel under the Shared Folder section. If you select a folder that was created in TOS 6, and the press edit at the top, when you attempt to change the Permissions of the share, the Apply button will light up, but nothing will happen when you click it.

Alternatively, if you create a new share in TOS 7, the Apply button will actually work as expected.
