Big Sur

Post by PeterFV »

Is there any evidence that a TerraMaster D5 Thunderbolt 3 5-Bay can not run on a Mac running Big Sur?

I've tried. It has provoked multiple rebuilds whereas Catalina provoked none. It cannot be relied on at present.

Why haven't you tested it?

Big Sur

Big Sur was available from the 9th of August and you still haven't tested it.

Perhaps you can understand why I have little faith in your test management.

I will be returning your woefully under-developed box.

For a direct attached storage, you just need to make sure your computer support the Thunderbolt 3 interface and follow the Thunderbolt 3 protocol, no matter PC or MAC. that’s closed related to computer hardware instead of OS. Compare to the OS, the model number is more critical issue you need to concern before you purchase your device. That’s why the OS update testing is not an hurry issue from our plan.

'did I say we don’t need to test it?'

"That’s why the OS update testing is not an hurry issue from our plan."

And when does Apple release Big Sur?

Ever missed a train?

As the team got a long working list, but after an internal discussion, I am sucessful to convince the product team to give the Big Sur test better priority. But that's going to take some time, I will keep you update.

Big Sur is NOT compatible with Terra-Master D5 thunderbolt. :x

I tested it first with my laptop on Big Sur and it mounted and worked ok. Then I updated my iMac to Big Sur and connected the D5. Initially, it was ok, working fine mounting my raid drive 70TB in total.

Then after half a day - it failed the raid array completely. There is nothing wrong with my drives, the D5 and was working fine yesterday under Catalina.

I can confirm the same on my D4, working flawlessly, then upgrade to Big Sur last night and now failing, we need this fixed ASAP and disapointed that nobody tested this with any of the betas over the past 3 months
