F4-423 Fails during boot

Post by tcherney »

Good morning all,

I was working on adding Uptime Kuma and Syncthing to my NAS the other day when I got a weird front end crash. In uptime Kuma I just started noticing plex was going down but ssh and everything seemed to stay up. So reboot was my first thought, unfortunatley the server never came back up properly. Kept going into this state where I would have ssh access but nothing more.. no web UI at all. So I powered everything off, let it sit for a bit then took the drives out and tried to start the NAS with the pinhole pressed in hoping this would trigger the TOS reset. This also did not happen... now the NAS will go through its boot process but fail on the DHCP portion and just fail to load altogether. Just trying to get TOS back up, any help would be so appreciated right now. Just feel I've exhausted all my options. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Hello, can you find the NAS using TNAS PC? What status does the NAS show on TNAS PC? If you start by holding the reset button, you can only hear one beep, which may be a boot system issue. You can re-create the boot system: viewtopic.php?t=6433

Hey thanks for the reply, unfortunately Im getting 0 response over the network at all, including from TNAS on the pc. I cant find it online in my router anywhere although the link light is blinking. I connected a monitor and see that DHCP is failing every time. If I try to hold the reset button at all ONLY the power light comes on and the link light never comes on at all, the monitor is just blank at that point. If I power off and boot normally I get everything attempting to boot properly but fails at the network. I tried rebooting from a usb but the NAS never found the usb.

Based on your description, it may be that the boot USB drive inside the device is damaged. You can try replacing it with another USB drive to create a boot system.
