[Help] CGNAT ISP and how to remotely access to TANS with TOS6

Post by malyzajac »

Please can you confirm if remote access to TNAS (F4-223 TOS6) is possible with solution based on VPS with Wireguard VPN tunnel?
I try setup like the following:
- Device Wireguard client connected to VPS with Wireguard VPN
- TNAS Wireguard-client (container) connected to VPS with Wireguard VPN.
VPN tunnels connections were established with successful handshake, internal vpn IP addresses see each other, but
problem is that I could not, regardless what, access TNAS GUI via https or http port.
So please can you confirm that such solution is possible or I should try different method like Tailscale?

Best Regards,

Compared to the solution you mentioned, Tailscale is indeed simpler. However, your solution is also feasible. Please check if traffic forwarding is allowed on the VPS. You can use FRP combined with the VPS to achieve remote access.

I'm glad to hear this. I found Tailscale slow for connection behind CGNAT. It is no advantage compared to Terramaster Remote access service.
Yes, I have traffic forward enabled.
It could be I did mistake because I try to reach from 192.168.0.2:1413 (1413 my https port) but I should try like 10.0.0.2:1413.
I will give it a second try.
Do I have to use frps? Can I use the one from Github frp_0.65.0_linux_amd64.tar.gz?
Is there anything special in TOS6 configuration I should take care of?
I have in fact a basic setup in TOS, no firewall rules etc.

This is also a feasible solution. Regarding the specific installation package you mentioned, it should be installable on TOS6. However, we have not actually tested it, so we are currently unable to provide specific steps or details to note.

Hello!
I finally succeeded to establish Wireguard VPN to my TNA F4-223 without having public IP from my internet provider and having reasonable link speed.
It is faster than native Terramaster Remote solution.

I wonder about possibilities in TOS7.
Have you already incorporated VPN Wireguard Cient in TOS7? Is there a chance it will be part of TOS7 in future?
Advertising TOS7 mentioning also faster Terramaster Remote connection to TNAS. Is it true, or this is in fact the same solution as used so far (in TOS6)?

The currently released TOS 7 beta version does not yet include a built-in WireGuard VPN client. The core technology of the remote access solution provided by the system remains consistent with TOS 6.
The advertised improvement in remote connection speed in TOS 7 primarily focuses on optimization within the existing technological framework to enhance connection stability and transmission efficiency. Its core solution is the same as TOS 6.
I have formally recorded your specific request and suggestion and will share it with the product and development teams as an important reference for subsequent feature evaluation and optimization directions. Thank you for your support and contribution! Please feel free to raise any further thoughts or questions.
