Build 783 drops smb connections to win11

I recently upgraded my u4-423 from build 5xx to 783 (really flattened and reinstalled). Since then smb file copy between a win11 device keeps failing. No changes on the win11 client.

I have another, brand new tnas running same build and show the same issue.

Files do copy for several minutes then network traces show that there after some successful transfers it goes into a continuous cycle of SMB setup and negotiation messages.

How can I fix this?

How large was the file you copied?

I have deleted my smb connections to the nas from win11. And i am transferring large files in the range of 1g+.

I may be doing xcopy * or robocopy an entire directory tree. Several large files transfer fine then, suddenly they start failing. Sometimes at the start of the next file and sometimes in the middle of a file transfer.

Net traces show the SMB exchange starts failing and a setup followed by negotiate messages are transferred. Then this pattern repeats again and again.

Same win11 box to both tnas devices. Before upgrading from build 550 (I believe) this same win11 device never had such issues.

Win11 is an active directory member, but the tnas devices are not part of it. I am authnticating using the local nas accounts.

Please try to modify the minimum version to SMB2 in the Control Panel - Network Services - File Services, SMB Advanced Settings, and then perform a transfer test.

It has already been configed for smbv2 - v3. The problem occurs with this config. Likewise the win11 client does not have smbv1 enabled.

Note that my Ubuntu plex server has no problems streaming large files sourced from a cifs connection from the same share.
