[Discussion] UPS Support "interferes" with other (bios) functions?

We have conducted thorough internal verification regarding this issue. Testing revealed that when the NAS is connected to a UPS and the "Power-on Automatically" function of the TNAS is enabled, if the UPS battery is completely depleted, the TNAS device fails to power on automatically when mains power is subsequently restored.

The specific reason is as follows: The "Power-on Automatically" function of the TNAS device relies on the TOS operating system settings. When power is restored after a complete UPS discharge, the UPS sends a startup signal to the TNAS at the moment power returns. However, since the UPS has insufficient charge at this point, the TNAS device begins to power on, but the available power is inadequate to complete the startup process. This prevents the TOS system from booting successfully, which means it cannot send the signal to the BIOS to set the power-on automatically function.....
So what is the (?theoretical?) situation with TOS if the NAS is already set in BIOS to automatically power-on when mains-power(ie UPS-power) is restored? And, if UPS support is disabled?

Does TOS alter the bios settings every time it reads the "GUI settings" for auto-power-on? or anything else? and every time that changes?

NUT provides lots of features, not many of which are accessible via TOS. Nice for TM to keep it simple, but not necessarily helpful for everyone. I have APC ups which (in some cases) I have set through Windows apcupsd (3rd party driver) to only restart when battery is at 15% - for example. I have no idea what TOS tries to do with those settings. (Minimal transparency unless you can find which configuration files TOS has set up outside of the routine usage...)

TOS only starts after the BIOS system has powered up, it does not command the BIOS to turn on the computer, but only reads the status when the OS has started.
