Hello,
i'm using a TNAS f2-212 and one day it just stopped booting up. No beeps at power on and, of course, TOS wasn't starting (TOS V5.1.73).
removed the HHDs and powered it on, i got the initialization web page working fine. i then placed the 2 HDDs back in and noticed that only HDD in bay1 was recognized correctly. I proceeded with reinstalling TOS, everything went fine but TOS reported a degraded RAID.
i removed the HDD in bay2 and connected it to a PC. HDD was recognized correctly and i was able to see the partion scheme in it.
But when i place the HDD back in bay2, TOS still report "no hdd in bay2".
Led light for bay2 turns on green, i can hear the HDD spinning but the led is always steady, it never blinks as it should do during I/O operations.
Is there something else i can try or my TNAS is definitely dead?
i purchased my TNAS on October 28, 2024
thanks in advance
[Help] F2-212 Bay2 dead?
Re: [Help] F2-212 Bay2 dead?
Hello! We sincerely apologize for the poor experience you've encountered. Regarding the issue where the HDD2 slot of the F2-212 product fails to recognize the hard drive after a period of use, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
1. Please ensure that the hard drive is correctly installed in place.
2. Check if there is a significant buildup of dust inside the product, as this may cause a connection failure between the motherboard and the SATA backplane. It is recommended to remove the casing and clean the gold fingers of the SATA backplane.
3. If the above methods do not resolve the issue, please contact the platform where you made the purchase, and we will arrange a replacement with a new device for you.

Re: [Help] F2-212 Bay2 dead?
Hello and thanks for your prompt reply.
Device was almost free of dust but i still used a specific dry spray for polishing contacts. Unfortunately nothing changed and the behaviour is the same, no hdd in bay2 and bay2 led always steady green.
i bouth the TNAS from Amazon, do i still have to contact them?
if you need me to do some other test or send pictures, just tell
thanks

Re: [Help] F2-212 Bay2 dead?
Hello, based on the current verification results, it is preliminarily determined that the issue may be hardware-related. It is recommended that you directly contact the TerraMaster sales support team on the Amazon platform and inform them that you have already communicated with technical staff on the forum, confirming that the problem lies with the device's inability to recognize the hard drive in the HDD2 bay. The support team will provide you with an appropriate after-sales solution based on the specific circumstances.

Re: [Help] F2-212 Bay2 dead?
Hello, just a quick follow up as after sales team was just great.
I'm impressed how fast it was to replace my device and, for this, i thank you all.
i Believe this is just as important as a good opearating device.
I'm glad to see both my hdds are back to life and all my data still there
Keep up the good work guys, now i'm considering to upgrade to TOS6 but will open a new thread as i have some questions about this
