Migration from F4-223 ti F4-424 Pro

Post by rfbjr »

End result, it worked.

Was I wrong, I assumed that the unit had a boot storage or whatever that held the OS. I thought I would need to update the OS before I moved the drives from the 223 to 424?
What was happening was the 424 would do the three beep code, checked the ram, reseated it.
I thought you could do an initialization of the unit before installing any HDDs.
I kept getting no disks found, try again.
Since had everything backed up from the traid5 4x8G (whatever the total size is) I decided to just do it,
Shutdown the 223 and install the HDDs into the 424 in the same order.

Wow, everything came right up (no three beeps), LUNs re-attached (ok ignoring the IP change).
I had to reassign the IP on the second NIC I use that for copying data between two NASs.
One note, the 424 has one USB A and one USB C. The 223 has two USB A. So I need an adapter for my USB A cable to the UPS system.
Also the USB drive attached is now .....SDF2 it was SDE2 on the 223. I wish you could just configure the silly name. I know where the name comes from but still, :)
Oh yeah I haven't moved the M2 cache stick yet.
Honestly the longest part was the backup which I'm glad to say didn't need to use.
