[Help] Can I migrate 2 1TB into a single 2TB NVMe?

Post by athurdent »

Hi,

on a F8 SSD with a TRAID, is it possible to migrate from this

to this

without deleting and recreating the storage pool?

Want to replace two hot 1TB WD with a single 2TB Samsung NVMe.

Hello! You can replace the current 1T SSD with a 2T SSD while ensuring that the array configuration remains unchanged and no data is deleted. The specific steps are as follows:

First, power off the device, remove one of the 1T SSDs, and install a 2T SSD.
Next, power on the device and initiate the array repair. Wait until the array repair is completed.
Then, repeat the process for the other 1T SSD, and perform the array repair again until all replaced SSDs are fully integrated into the array.

Thanks, so that is a „no“ to my question then I guess.
I was looking to remove one of the 1TB drives, as with a 2TB drive replacement for the other 1TB I‘d have the same space as before.
Thought TRAID might perhaps make possible what other RAIDs don’t, but seems it’s also disk based.

The redundancy mechanism of TRAID is similar to RAID5 and RAID1, and it cannot achieve your goal of reducing the number of RAID members as expected.
