[Help] A nas folder doesn't appear in USB copy

Post by Jmb »

Hi,

I use USB Copy 2.1.057 under TOS6 on a F2-223.

My problem is that a specific folder under /Volume1 doesn't appear at all whn I select the source for a new backup task.

The folder exists, I can see it and its content in the TOS File manager, the Tnas mobile app, TFM backup, SSH command line but no way to see it in USB Copy. Any idea ?

I really need to backup this folder ...

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

In order to locate the issue more accurately, could you please provide some relevant screenshots? We especially need to know which folder is not being displayed properly.

If convenient, we also suggest that you provide comparison screenshots of TFM Backup and USBCopy. By comparing the directory structure or file list under the two backup methods, it will help us quickly analyze the differences and provide you with a more precise solution.

Here they are.

The missing folder of interest is Nxt_backup.
Thank you for your help.

Hello, may I ask if this folder is a regular shared folder, an encrypted shared folder, or a shared folder under a HyperLock-WORM volume?

I wouldn't say the folder is encrypted, but it contains encrypted files. It sits on a standard non encrypted volume (no hyperlock-worm or whatever). It is created by Borgbackup. I checked the first level of attributes bu didn't find anything specific. Should I check anything special ?

Remember the TM backup and the standard File manager tool on TOS see it (and the subfolders and files included). Note that I'm able to see them thru SFTP as well.
Thank you for your help.

Hello, thank you for the detailed description. Regarding the origin of the Nxt_backup folder, you can verify it in the following ways:

1. Check if it is a standard TOS shared folder

Go to Control Panel > Access Rights > Shared Folders. If Nxt_backup appears in the list, it means it is a system-created shared folder.

2. Check if it was mounted by BorgBackup

BorgBackup may use FUSE mounting to present a backup repository as a directory (e.g., Nxt_backup). Such directories are visible in the file manager but will not appear in the Shared Folders list.

The discrepancy between TFM Backup and USBcopy is due to differences in how they retrieve backup source paths.

If you still need assistance, you can contact our technical support via LiveChat on our official website (please include a link to this discussion). We will arrange remote troubleshooting for you.

Thank you.

Nxt_backup appears in TOS shared folders.

Does it give you any ideas where the issue comes from ?
