and, no doubt, make it more expensive for the budget minded users in the long run. In which case I would suggest an "Enterprise TOS" which could have all the bells and whistles AT A PRICE!

No need to yell, I for one would not mind paying for that security feature. Although it seems the backend already has (some) LUKS support, if you skim through the script I listed above.
Plus, LUKS and TCG/Opal are pretty well documented and would not require TerraMaster to reinvent the wheel. Surely extra caution/testing has to be applied so users don’t loose their data.
IIRC, the build in folder encryption that is based on eCryptfs is no longer actively maintained, so unless TerraMaster want to start fixing issues there in future releases, best to go for supported software anyways. TCG Opal, low hanging fruit: the drives already encrypt in hardware, the only thing that has to be done is change that encryption key to a password only known to you. Regarding AES 256-bit Disk Array Encryption Protection, it has never been implemented. This was an oversight, and I have informed the team to either modify the description or remove it.

This is terrible. I bought the F4-F25 Plus to replace my old NAS as I required disk encryption and the Synology I had didn't support it. Based on the press release, i assumed it would be supported.

This feature needs to be added for TOS to be an option for a lot of users.

Currently, only folder-level encryption is supported. We will feedback the request for encrypted volumes to the product team for evaluation.

No, as I do know the TerraMaster development team does not officially support or track custom LUKS layers, meaning encrypted LUKS volumes remain completely invisible and unmanageable in the TOS WebUI by design.
