New Terramaster User, couple small questions!

Hey all, just got done initializing, updating, etc my new Terramaster and just had a couple quick questions:

1. I have several hard drives on the way, however, I installed the 1tb NVME SSD and got the NAS up and running prior to "installing" the hard drives. My thinking behind this is:

• A. Wanting the "OS" and all relevant programs to be "installed" on the faster NVME vs the hard drives.

• B. In theory if the SSD fails, the data on the HDD volume when i create it won't be affected. I should in theory be able to just install a new SSD, install/updated TOS6, etc, and it *should* recognize the existing HDD volume?

Am i incorrectly understanding how TOS6 works, any other considerations i should know about?

2. Is there a smarter way of getting the data from my synology to the terramaster than just cut/paste via the windows explorer? All of the devices are 2.5gbe so i don't think i'll be speed limited this way? Again, open to suggestions!

3. This one is minor, but in the network area of file explorer in windows, i have a folder showing under the NAS that is named as one of the accounts i created. I can't seem to find this folder in the "Shared Folder" section of TOS6.

I apologize im coming from the synology sphere so maybe i'm "thinking" of things in the wrong way, but usually what i did there was just create a shared volume, and that would show up in the network once a user connected to the NAS. If there is a smarter/better way to do it, i am all ears!

That's the way it'll do it, since you've already installed TOS to your NVMe SSD.

If is for a one-time transfer, enable rsync server on the TNAS & use the Synology to transfer it to that through rsync.

If you plan on using the Synology as a secondary onsite backup, you could use its built-in backup to create that scheduled sync process or you could use TOS' backup app to create it.

By default, user/home folders/directories are enabled; that's what's making those username folders that are invisible to the rest of the network. If you'd rather not have them, disable that feature.

When installing the system, if you choose an NVMe SSD as the system drive, your TOS system will be installed on the NVMe. At the same time, this drive can continue to be used to create storage pools and volumes. If you want to install all applications on this drive, please select the volume created on this drive as the storage location when downloading from the Application Center.

If your SSD fails, you can use a new SSD to install and update the TOS system, which will not affect your HDD or its data.
