TNAS PC Update
Re: TNAS PC Update
Nobody even thinks to solve the problem. The program does not install from a network drive made crookedly by the developers of a crooked program.

Re: TNAS PC Update
thank you for reminding me, ive been meaning to install it on my computer, is it a restriction imposed on you by Apple or the computer you are using since you said its a mac you are using?
im not sure what the issue is, granted i use windows but i click the download button from within the app center, firefox downloads version 5.2.300, i copied and pasted the executable to a network drive (just because you said it couldnt be installed from a network drive) and i double clicked on it to install it on my PC, surprise surprise it installed just fine and found the 3 TNAS devices
it really is quite weird your obsession with writing negative comments about TM when its probably someone elses fault

Re: TNAS PC Update
By default, macOS prohibits direct installation of software packages from network drives (such as shared folders and NAS). This is to prevent unauthorized or malicious software from being automatically installed over the network.
If you need to install applications from a network drive, please refer to the following steps (administrator privileges required):
1. Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.
2. Click the lock icon in the lower-left corner and enter your password. Under "Allow apps downloaded from," check "Anywhere." (If this option is not available, enable it using Terminal: sudo spctl --master-disable).
3. After installation, it is recommended to restore the default settings (sudo spctl --master-enable) for security reasons.
If the above steps do not resolve your issue, we recommend copying the application installation package to a local computer before installing.

Re: TNAS PC Update
All the usual programs are simply copied from the mounted .dmg disk to the Applications folder. No shutdown required.
Installed. What a pain.

This is not a macOS problem.

Re: TNAS PC Update
We understand that your issue may be frustrating. However, we need to clarify: the issue you describe, "unable to install from a network drive," isn't a problem with individual apps, but rather stems from macOS's inherent security and installation mechanisms.
In macOS, .pkg installers must be installed from a local disk, and the system directly blocks installation from network volumes (NAS, shared folders, etc.). This is an official Apple limitation, not a specific issue for our app.
Related information can be found on the official Apple forums, where many other users and developers have experienced the same issue:
