[Help] Time Sync F2-212

Post by Joey »

Hello, I am not the most experienced person when using any NAS. I only use the F2-212 to backup my desktop, nothing else. I don't use any features or install any apps. I selected the security isolation mode. It was the easiest thing I could think off. I have very little need for the NAS to talk to or receive input from the internet outside of my router/gateway. The only thing I would like it to do is have the box sync with an internet time server. I tried to setup a firewall rule while in the security isolation mode and I found that I could no longer log in to the management console (TOS??). My PC could still access the network drives that I created but I could not log into the console application (to access the control panel for instance and shut down the device). I had to reinstall the the operating system. Since I am a relative newbie, it took me four separate tries before I figured out how to get it to stick.

Since the automatic time sync won't work in security isolation mode, I turned the isolation mode off and rebooted the device. Then I picked my region (East Coast USA) and set the time sync to auto and had it update. Then I selected the security isolation mode and rebooted the device again. When the device came back online the time was off by something like 8 hours and the region had was changed to China. When I set the region back to East Coast USA the time was still wrong. I set the mode to auto and, of course, the time would not sync.

Other than manually, how can I have the NAS automatically update the time?

Thanks in advance.

You could try sync'ing with your browser (presuming you have that option in whatevver version of TOS you are running.}
F5-221 TOS7.0.0777 - 4x4TB (Ironwolf) Traid
F2-424 TOS7.0.0777 - 2x500GB nvme (P3) Traid, 2x6TB HDD (HGST) Traid
F2-221 TOS7.0.0777 - 1x3TB Ext4, 1x4TB Btrfs
F2-425+ TOS7.0.0777 - 2x500GB nvme (P3) Traid, 2x6TB HDD (EXOS) Traid

Since the OS was downloaded from the TM website I presume I have the latest for the F2-212. Would that option ostensibly be in the "Regional" options if it exists?

Son-of-a-gun. The web browser option was out of my sight. Works perfectly. Thanks.

Always a bad idea to presume anything - especially where TOS o/s is concerned :lol:
I believe -212 can be updated to at least 5.1.73 and there is also a public BETA of Tos6 available.
Check the Update Thread in this forum. Unfortunately there is no sub-division by architecture or model.
CAVEATS apply. Read the notices thoroughly. To update further than lowest TOS5 versions you will have to reconfigure system drives.
