storage volume went read only

a volume got full on me over night, should be simple enough extend the volume or delete a some content. i attempted to delete a file from the GUI and it failed, i then tried to extend the volume and it did not. i then went into terminal and tried to delete the file and it told me the file system was read only

it tells me the unmount command does not exist

usr@TERRY:~# cd /
usr@TERRY:/# unmount /Volume9
-bash: unmount: command not found
