I don't think an update would work. Probably need 5.1.145 installation file (*.ins) Since Tos6 updates eventually re-wrote the internal usb-flash I think it would be wise (if not mandatory) to create a new USB-flash for your specific device and TOS variant (there are a few):
Based on your description, your device meets the upgrade requirements. Generally speaking, upgrading won't erase the data on your volumes. However, for the sake of data security, we recommend that you back up your data. During the initialization process, you have the option to choose which disk to install the system on. Only as I need to try and find how to backup 3-4TB of data before the upgrade if there is potential to lose it all. I thought the OS would be installed on a potential small M.2 and then the drives are separate but i'm not 100%.
When I purchased this 2nd hand, I recall having to buy RAM for it and the 3 drives.

Thank you for your response, I'm currently in the process of backing it up, but it's difficult to afford 4TB of storage for it to be backed up to. On another note, I don't think an M.2 is supported on this device. In subsequent versions, we will add a system disk migration feature. You can first upgrade your system to the latest version and then migrate the system disk to an M.2 drive later on.
After updating to the TOS system, you can check which disk the system is installed on by locating the label of the system disk in the Control Panel > Storage Management > Disks section.
It seems that models that were released with TOS 5.× originally, continue to only have that; the releases listed are the first 8 GB system partition builds.

If one of the update notice threads for TOS 6.× builds has a newer .INS file available for download to clean install that, then support just forgot to add it to the download page on their support subsite.
If your current 5.1.× build is the large system partition (you can verify that the “/” volume under Control Panel → System Info → Overview is 7+ GB); you can do an in place upgrade.

If you are doing a clean installation, first update the initboot USB on your unit to a TOS 6.× UEFI one @ viewtopic.php?t=6433, then the online update during the initial boot environment will directly install the current distributed TOS 6.× build.
