My nas says i have over 600gb of free space, but when i try to transfer files onto it it says its only got about 20gb.

any ideas whats going on?

the size available seems to match this setting that says how much is available on the "Public" "resync server, authorised directories".

but i'm trying to transfer to the Movies folder...

It seems you are using TOS5. Could you please tell us which specific version of TOS you are using?

The volume capacity here does not take metadata into account, so the actual available capacity is less. Metadata typically occupies 1-5% of the volume capacity.

it would be a rather odd choice to have the system say theres available space and there not be though, surely? The meta data should be eating away at this "available space" so people know when its going to become full?
This nas drive is a backup of a drive connected to my computer and so it actually has the usable 600gb remaining space, which is why i thought it was odd that i couldn't sync them up. shouldnt the drive on my computer also have meta data taking up part of the volume?
