I just got the device.
I connected an HDMI monitor to the NAS and initialised it.
At no point did the monitor show anything.
Does the HDMI port even work? Do I have to enable it or something?

It's simply for service/debugging usage.
If your expectation was it'd function as a video playback output, you were mislead.

We recommend trying a different HDMI cable or restarting your NAS, then check if the monitor displays any output signal.
