Are you connecting via a vpn? Otherwise I cannot see any plausible way in which it does not work. Unless your isp is actually blocking the communication. Presume you (your system) can, and does, use normal networking tools to independently determine your external ip address.

@TMzethar
Maybe some clues as to the tos process might be helpful in diagnosis.

Thanks for the reply. No I am not connecting via VPN. I am not very knowledgeable about networking and NAS systems, what I know would fit on the back of a stamp. I do not fiddle with the NAS, having set it up and had it working as I wanted it. Which is basically backups from my computers, syncing some folders with google drive and recording of security cameras through ISPY on Docker. I installed Tailscale more out of curiosity to try it than anything else. So I had not changed or altered anything on the NAS for some time, other than the electricity going off.
Tonight ISPY is working and I can connect in to TOS screen from the internet outside of the local network with Tailscale and last night neither worked. I have lost count of the number of resets of the NAS and Router. I do not understand why it works on the local network and the WAN is disconnected, but it seems I am not the only one to have this problem. I cannot imagine why the ISP would suddenly be blocking communication.
It would seem I am going to have to try a factory reset.

I apologize if I misunderstood you. Are you saying that this is not just a display issue but that your NAS is unable to successfully access the internet through your ISP? Can you check if there are any network functions available on the TOS?

Tailscale is a vpn. Is it still installed? Maybe a misconfiguration or not fully removed in the alternate case.

TMzethar- No this is not a display issue I am unable to access the internet. The WAN is Disconected please see the screen print on a previous post.
Local network traffic seems to be fine. I can access other my shared folders on other PCs and security camera footage is saving to the NAs via ISPY on Docker. It will not check for updates/install apps etc

Gremlin- Sorry, I had Tailscale installed but did not use it other than to see if it worked once I found out i could not access the internet. I have since unistalled it.

Hi, Teramaster support gave me the solution:
ssh

1. rm -rf /etc/resolvconf.conf
2. ln -sf /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf

You're welcome.

Hi oscar1412
Success! Thankyou very much.
Tried the commands and it now connects to the internet. it automatically downloaded the latest update. The only difference seems to be that previously the IP and WAN addresses were the same now the IP is 192.168.xx.xx and the WAN is now 87.115.yy.yy. But it works.

Thanks. I have just discovered the same problem on my F6-424 Max. I wondered why it would no longer check for updates.
Entered those commands and all is now well. :)

Thank you, Oscar1412!!! It worked without issue. :geek:

I experienced the same situation as the OP, after a recent power failure in my neighbourhood, and these two simple commands restored my sanity.

Hello, I am not sure if that helps.
I had the same problem that after moving the server I could not connect to the WAN whatever I tried.
Last thing I have was to enable IP6 addresses.
After the reboot of the NAS F5-422 version 5 it worked again
