SMB access not working, files greyed out (MacOS, TOS6)

Post by Judas68fr »

I have an issue with accessing some files on my F2-424, running TOS 6.0.610. When accessing the files through MacOS (SMB), I see some newly created folders (via Google Drive sync) with all files within them being greyed out. The files cannot be opened. If I log on to TOS on my browser, I can access those files just fine. So they're there, but not showing up in Finder (well, or at least not accessible). It happens on both of the accounts I've created, both with full admin privileges, and full permissions to the folder. I've tried restricting permissions and allowing them again, to no avail.

What am I missing?

Hello,Are the greyed-out files part of the Google Drive files? You can try disconnecting all SMB connections on your Mac and then reconnecting.

I found 2 infos about this.
A created folder (with Mac) has a wrong create date => make a copy of the folder in TOS to get a new date

AND I just suppress SMB v1 on Mac (it currently seems to work )

with terminal
sudo nano /etc/nsmb.conf
add
[default]
protocol_vers_map=6
(This forces SMB to use only SMBv2 or SMBv3)
reboot
the problem should not exists anymore
Model: F2-424 with TOS 7.0.0777 Bios V08

same here. in windows I can't connect to the smb. After I entered my credentials (same as I use to go in the web interface), it doesn't let me in. Do I have to make an extra user in the shell with smbpasswd or what should I do?

Hello,
I can see that your question is not the same as the original poster's issue. Regarding the SMB issue you encountered on Windows, I suggest you first refer to this troubleshooting guide. If you still have issues after troubleshooting, I recommend creating a new topic for your specific problem.

Ok thanks, I'm trying option 2 (removing SMB v1), let's see what happens, seems like it's been ok all day so far so fingers crossed!

The odd thing is that sometimes we're having issues copy/pasting files from MacOS computers to the NAS (you copy/paste and they appear greyed out). I've checked the date stamps of the folders and files when that happens and they definitely look ok, so maybe it was just that SMB v1 thing. I'll report back in a few days if the situation changed or remained the same.

After thorough testing and verification, we found that the issue of gray display does not occur on lower versions of macOS. It is speculated that the macOS update did not take into account compatibility with lower versions of Samba.
We plan to upgrade the Samba version in TOS to ensure compatibility with this issue.
Generally speaking, upgrading SAMBA services can solve the problem. But this may introduce more uncontrollable influencing factors, so we will not consider upgrading SAMBA in the short term.
Perhaps macOS can recognize this and optimize it.
Temporary Solution:
Please go to TOS > Control Panel > Shared Folders, and disable the "Recycle Bin" feature for the shared folders.

If TOS 6 supports Access Control Lists (ACLs), ensure the dataset and share permissions align. For example, set the user as the primary owner of the dataset and apply permissions recursively to subfolders and files. Ragdoll Hit
