Post by lopies »

Hello,

I get the S.M.A.R.T. is currently unavailable for this drive after I run either the quick or long test in the disk log.

Both tests run for only a few seconds. I

I am running 4 Seagate Exos X20 18TB drives with my F4-223 on TOS 6.0.610-00165.

Hello!
Thank you for reaching out to TerraMaster.
To better assist you, could you please confirm whether the hard drive in question is within our supported range and specify its type? You can refer to the compatibility list here: https://www.terra-master.com/global/compatibility/

I see. The chart says - Applicable, not recommended.

I also see people are using these and are working ok.

Out of curiosity what excludes these drives from being recommended/supported?

I can also see the S.M.A.R.T info when I look under the tab. So that's something.

When I look under Disk tab the nas reports that all 4 are good. Will the nas still warm me if a drive starts to fail?

Did this ever get sorted? I am keen to make the switch away from Synology but have a bunch of Exos drives. I’d rather not switch if I can’t even get smart data for them. The drive I have in question is a Exos 16tb HDD ST16000NM001G.

The original poster does not appear to be unable to see S.M.A.R.T. information but can only view parameter metrics on the TOS web page.
If you wish to see more S.M.A.R.T. information, you can enter the following command in the Terminal:

Code: Select all

smartctl -a /dev/sd?
(?=a, b, c, d, ...)

I have a similar situation where one drive will abort the self test (long or short) but tests fine outside the enclosure (in a USB sled attached to a PC).
Setup:
TOS 6.0.650
T9-423(16GB)
1 x Intel 1Tb 670P Hyper-Cache
9 x 3TB HGST Ultrastar 7K4000
8 - members in TRaid array, 1 - Hot Spare
1 Storage pool with 2 Volumes
Backup
D5-300C
4x14TB ST14000NM0018 in TRaid array
1 Storage pool with 1 volume
