D5-300 serious issue when connected to NAS running TOS 6

Post by CraftyClown »

I have three Terramaster NASes; an F2-422, an F4-423 and and F4-424 Pro and each of these has a D5-300 connected to it with a T-RAID volume. They have been operating without issue on TOS 5 for over a year, however at the beginning of the year I decided to upgrade to TOS 6 as an official release was finally out. The upgrades went fine and the volumes on the D5-300s have remained accessible so I thought nothing of it.

Yesterday I noticed the drive lights on the front of the three D5-300s were not on although the power light was on and the drives were still accessible. I touched the enclosure and found it hot so quickly checked the drive temps and found they all ranged from 78c to 89c! On closer inspection of the D5-300s it became clear the fans are not running!

I am furious! these drives have probably been running like this since the update nearly two weeks ago. They are potentially ruined and could cost in the region of £4k to £6k to replace!

I have reached out to Terramaster support but have yet to receive a response!

Sorry for the late reply.
We have initially pinpointed the problem and are currently doing more research and discussion.
Here is a known temporary solution: Go to the TOS6 webpage > Control Panel > General Settings and change the hibernation mode to “Never Hibernate”.
To contact our team, please send email to following addresses, remember to replace (at) with @:
