TOS 6 openVPN config file "configuration failed"

Post by rhoadsnroses82 »

I've been trying to import the openVPN config file provided by protonVPN into TOS 6 and it always says configuration failed. I definitely put in the correct user name and password, and i've tried UDP and TCP config files. always same result. I need this NAS to run behind a VPN, so i will be returning this product if this functionality is not possible. Hoping someone from terramaster support can figure out how to solve this!

We apologize for the bad experience. According to your previous posting, this may be an issue of configuration files not being parsed properly, or it may be a configuration incompatibility issue with a third-party VPN service provider.

We have arranged the relevant personnel to investigate the cause of the problem you mentioned. Compatibility testing will also be performed on this server. We will notify you as soon as we have any news.

Has this been resolved in an update? I cannot connect to SurfShark or NordVPN, I get the same error.

I managed to do a workaround where I saved the certificate part of the UDP config file as a separate file and uploaded it in the SSL Certificate field in addition to config file. That allowed me to connect to my VPN provider (NordVPN in this case).

But I'm now having an issue where every time the NAS reboots, even though the VPN connects on startup, it doesn't route anything (The IP and subnet are blank). I have to disconnect and re-connect and then it works again.

Thanks @francmau - worked for me on TCP & UDP.

But same, issue after reboot it says Connected but does not show an IP / Subnet for connection. So I doubt its connected.
