I recently purchased a Terramaster F-424 NAS. The two reasons for purchasing were cost and the ability to install other OSes. Well, it seems reason #2 was a wise decision. I initially was testing the NAS with an old 1TB drive that has a lot of hours on it. So when the NAS barked at me with the "User not exist!" message, I tossed it up to the drive being the issue. I then install two Seagate X18 12TB drives and proceeded to setup the NAS for regular usage. Guess what happened, the "User not exist!" message comes back up again.
At this point, I need to find a new OS for this NAS but I do have a few requirements:
Time Machine support to backup a Mac
Link aggregation to take advantage of the two NICs on the device
A RAID setup similar to Terramaster's TRAID that provides redundancy with expandability.
What alternatives to Terramaster's TOS 5 could fit my needs?
Could you please let us know your use case and the version of TOS you are using? Previous versions have had different issues. You might want to try using TOS 6, and if you encounter any problems, we will address them as quickly as possible.

Thank you. I have been looking through that topic but there are no references to Time Machine, link aggregation, or TRAID (other than a question that was recently asked).
I was looking for someone with real-world experience with one of these other OSes who could provide some guidance.
I am using this at home for backup (PC & MAC), media (Plex), file sharing, and Docker. Currently, the TOS is 5.1.145. I had been wondering when my NAS would have the ability to try TOS6 and I see that is available so I will give that a try first (hopefully it will be more stable).
It looks like TOS 6.0.555 so far and don't have any issues with the user account going missing as with TOS 5.
I had a problem with Time Machine not being seen on my Mac. However, after doing some research, I was able to get it seen but would not establish the connection. I was using a separate user account for backups but when I tried the root/superuser account I created at the initial setup, my Mac saw the backup folder on the NAS and made a successful backup.
Thanks for letting me know about TOS 6 being available for my NAS.
Well, I spoke too soon. TOS 6 is giving me the dreaded "User not exist!" message again. I really don't have any other issues with the NAS or TOS other than this. And while this can be fixed by reinstalling TOS, the biggest pain is checking on the two dozen Docker containers to make sure they come back up or worse, having to reconfigure them again.
Could you please let me know what recent actions you've taken? For example, have you backed up the TOS system configuration? Have you tried restarting to resolve this issue? If possible, could you go to the "Support and Help" section on the TOS desktop and enable Debug mode? If the problem occurs again, please download the Debug log and send it to us for analysis. Thank you!

I have restarted the NAS via the power button on the back several times. I have a configuration back that is two weeks old. As previously mentioned, I cannot log into the TOS dashboard. I can log into the NAS via SSH, so if you can give me any commands or the location of log files I can post those needed.
