Yes, I know that. I've already created some raid-system in Linux with the mdadm Tool.

I just wanted to use the nas as a Kind of mediaserver as I am planning to digitalize my DVD and blu-ray collection

I use Corsair P3 in the 424.

Yes, you can use those drives - Terramaster Hardware supports HDDs up-tp 22TB (with the current BIOS version).
TrueNAS supports almost everything you can threw at it.
