Create a web server

Post by Zakarik »

Hello, I acquired a NAS a really short time ago and I'd like to turn it into a web server, potentially with Wordpress.

I know there's a Wordpress application, and I've already tried to use it, but I'm mostly stuck on something else.

I'd need an SSL certificate, otherwise it gives me a warning on connection, and I don't really have a domain name at the moment, at most I can get a DDNS.

In short, would someone be able to explain to a beginner in this field how to go about solving these problems?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Zakarik,

I think it could be useful to install docker and the container Nginx Proxy manager to get an access to your Web server. Of course you need a DDNS and a domain name. I use this one : https://www.dynu.com/en-US/

Best,

Is there any other way if I don't have a domain name?

OK, provided you are not behind an ISP using CGNAT. (I also use Dynu for email and 'real' domain service.)
