Join ARC Discord Group, to activate ARC Loader, and read the Wiki before asking questions, because people get annoyed by asking the same questions over and over, and they are all explained in the Wiki/FAQ.

DSM is superior to all other NAS OS-es. With DSM - TerraMaster Hardware is perfect.
UGreen NAS Hardware can run alternative OS too.
To be honest I can say I'm happy on TOS6 now.

The only issue that remains for me is a bug in

Code: Select all

/etc/exports
that I highlighted here.

Otherwise TOS6 provides more flexibility than DSM if you know raw Linux.

I.e. I use NIX to fill the gaps

I use docker-compose for containers

I just modify nginx configs directly to give me any kind of reverse proxy configs

All of these things are done via Ansible scripting.

TOS6 is on 6.1.58 kernel vs. DSM 7.1 stuck on ancient 4.4.302+

I havent tried TOS, because i dont need another NAS OS. Im happy with TrueNAS and DSM.
DSM is simple and works great for home setup.
TrueNAS is great for everything else.

DSM is fine yes, but its more restrictive than TOS (can't really modify system much) and runs ancient version of Linux kernel

TrueNAS is good, but you're tied into ZFS that requires minimum of 5-6 disks to be useful. Otherwise its a waste of disk space and potential of software.

I managed to install it and everything seems to go but I realized that I can't use ABB which is one of the applications of my interest and reason why I have a NAS

With the SA6400 the Kernel version is 5.5 LTS version. Its not the newest, but it is newer then the 4.4 on older Synology.

Active Backup 4 Business works fine. You didn't read the Wiki, so you didn't activate the Backup Apps.

What is TOUS 6? Cant find any info about TOUS 6 OS.

I get why you are having problem with any installation - English is hard for you.

Install the original TOS, it should have a good Italian translation.
