Hello,
i recently bought a D2-320 and filled it with two 16TB harddisks from Toshiba (N300).
I use the D2-320 in Single mode, because i want to use both harddisk indepently.
Both drives are in the case, and when i start the device everything is alright.
If i want to stop just one of the harddisks (safe eject under Windows) then both harddisk get ejected.
Same problem if i use the supported hot swap. If i pull out one harddisk out of the case then the other gets ejected under Windows 10 22H2 or 11 23H2.
I am aware that i simply could do:
1) eject both harddisks under windows
2) pull out one of the harddisks
3) turn on the other harddisk case
Same way would apply if i want to pull in the second harddisk.
But this isn't the way i would go, because its totaly stupid to do it that way.
Is their any possibilty two change this behaviour?
Under the FAQ section i didn't find a solution.
D2-320 - Ejecting one drive ejects both (Single Mode)
Re: D2-320 - Ejecting one drive ejects both (Single Mode)
Sorry, i have to correct my first post.
The D2-320 has no Hot Swap, that i've tested one time.
This was my mistake.
But the problem, that both drives get ejected when i just safe eject one drive is there.

Re: D2-320 - Ejecting one drive ejects both (Single Mode)
This is normal because it is a RAID device and when you safely eject any one drive, both drives will be ejected.

Re: D2-320 - Ejecting one drive ejects both (Single Mode)
I was considering a device such as this to expand my system. However, if it cannot recognise single drives - as claimed in the product in the product documentation - as a pure single drive, it would seem pointless. {Hint: The OP said it was in single drive mode.}

Re: D2-320 - Ejecting one drive ejects both (Single Mode)
Thanks for the reply.
If i would use the D2-320 in RAID-Mode (0 or 1) or JBOD, then it would make sense.
But as is wrote and Gremlin confirmed it, i just use the Single Mode.
The installed Controller inside the DAS should know this, otherwise the Single Mode would be superfluous.
Re: D2-320 - Ejecting one drive ejects both (Single Mode)
Due to the hardware RAID controller configuration of the D2-320, you cannot eject one of the two hard disks individually, even if they are in single mode. This is a limitation imposed by the hardware specifications of this model. If this model does not meet your requirements, please consider selecting the D4-320 instead.

Re: D2-320 - Ejecting one drive ejects both (Single Mode)
Thanks for the reply. Must say, I would have thought D2-320 and D4-320, (both being "320") would have the same underlying hardware, with just the expanded chassis, but I now see they don't.

Slightly off topic. Would the D5/D8 hybrid exhibit the same behaviour?

Yes, Models equipped with hardware RAID controllers exhibit the same.
